This years Onam was missing Veena. Veena was on a business trip and co-incidentally she happened to be in our good own St. Louis with Priya, vimal, Krishnan, Suneethi and the kids.
For our part, we had my parents and Veena's parents over and invited our close friends for an Onam lunch. The kids went all out to put out a poo kolam and there was excitement in the air.
With all of the flooding in Kerala that happened less than a week ago, this years celebration across the state was more of a sober that the excitement and fervor that is associated with the festival.
We catered Onam Sadhya and invited our close friends, Sridhar, Venky, Naresh and Shubha. The absence of Veena was starkly seen when once the food arrived. Parents went into a tizzy on seeing the quantity thinking that it may be insufficient.
However it turned out that it was plenty, everyone had a sumptuous meal and was a memorable event.
